Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

I've babysat Alvin (3) since January 2019, a few hours a week. I drive him to activities and school, prepare meals, help with homework, play with him, bathed him when he was younger, put to bed and read to him. I worked at a horse stable from June 2017 to June 2020 teaching horseback riding to children ages 7 to 9 years old. I helped out with the lessons, prepared the horses, and comforted and encouraged the children. I've babysat Agnes since January 2018 a few hours a month. I play with her, prepare meals, help with homework, take her to the horse stable, give baths, and put to bed.

I want to become an au pair since I want to explore another culture and the US has always been exciting for me. I love children and think it will be a great combination. I also want to be part of an American host family and develop my English skills as well as develop my self and try new things have friends who has been au pair and they all have loved it. From 03/2023 I cared for Thiago (5) for 10 hour a day, 3 days a week. I would prepare the meal and take care him the best way possible. In 2023, I had the opportunity to join a work-and-travel program in the US. I’m a housekeeper. I often meet guests who come to stay. Most of them come as families. I have the opportunity to talk with them, which makes me happy every time because I feel like I can exchange ideas and experience cultural perspectives from them. I think this is a good opportunity to join the Au-Pair exchange program. I can apply the experience that I learnt from school to take care of children. I prepared his bottle, helped him get dressed, made his meals and snacks, and ensured he rested. We played with toys, did arts and crafts together, and engaged in baby stimulation activities. I cared for David, also 1 year old, from January 2022 to October 2022. I prepared and gave him his bottle, changed his diapers, and we played with shapes, animal toys, and puzzles. I also prepared his snacks and put him down for naps. I completed a total of 800 hours. I took care of Samuel, a 7-year-old, from January 2023 to June 2023. We did activities such as painting and coloring, and I helped him with his school homework. After snack time, we played together. I cared for Emilio, 6 years old, from January 2025 to July 2025. I helped him with his schoolwork while we learned English together. I prepared his snacks, and we had fun playing football, building with Legos, going to the park, and having lunch together. We also fed the horse and the chickens, went to the river, and had a great time bonding.

I enjoy helping people and being there when they need support. Doing a good job and helping others gives me a real sense of purpose. With children, I find it's important to play outside, to discover the world and do other fun things. I like to bake and cook and could teach your kids how to make an authentic quiche Lorraine. *** First AID *** Participating in the AuPair exchange program in the USA has been a long-standing dream of mine. I am deeply passionate about working with children and believe that this program offers a unique opportunity to combine my love for childcare with cultural exchange. The chance to immerse myself in American culture, improve my language skills, and form meaningful connections with a host family is incredibly appealing to me. From June 2023 to August 2024, I took care of Nashly (8), for two hours, four days per week. I planned and carried out various recreational and educational activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor games and creative play. From November 2023 to August 2024, I took care of Stayci (11) and Tyler (9), for four hours, five days per week. I helped with homework, assisted in studying for exams and reinforced good study habits. From March 2023 to July 2024, I took care of Yeralin (14) for two hours, four times per week. I made sure the child was safe, monitored child's activities, applied positive discipline when needed, and taught child the importance of following house rules and to respect others. From March to June 2024, I took care of Astrid (13) for six hours, three days per week. I ensured the child was following a structures daily routine, prepared breakfast, got child ready for school, engaged in educational activities, accompanied child to extracurricular activities and took care of the child until the parents returned home.

I am interested in participating in this program to learn about other cultures and make mine known, meet other people. I like children and I feel more than qualified to work with them, taking care of them, teaching them about my country and culture. Teaching them values and learning hundreds of things, living the experience with them would be an honor, they would learn as much from me as I do from them.
