Why to choose an Au Pair from Latvia?
- Hard-working. Our winters are cold, for 6 months of the year it is actually snowing or raining here. However, winners have to think ahead and be prepared for both easy and hard times. We are good at planning and improvising as well.
- Open-minded. The landscape is flat in Latvia, so we look far, we look wide and we don't like our vision to be hampered by anything closer than the horizon. We don't always smile but when we do, it comes from the heart!
- Cooking enthusiasts. Cooking at home is very common in Latvia and we say almost nothing about it just because we have learned that it is not polite to speak with a full mouth. Food is to be enjoyed - not to be discussed.

From June 2023 to August 2024, I took care of Nashly (8), for two hours, four days per week. I planned and carried out various recreational and educational activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor games and creative play. From November 2023 to August 2024, I took care of Stayci (11) and Tyler (9), for four hours, five days per week. I helped with homework, assisted in studying for exams and reinforced good study habits. From March 2023 to July 2024, I took care of Yeralin (14) for two hours, four times per week. I made sure the child was safe, monitored child's activities, applied positive discipline when needed, and taught child the importance of following house rules and to respect others. From March to June 2024, I took care of Astrid (13) for six hours, three days per week. I ensured the child was following a structures daily routine, prepared breakfast, got child ready for school, engaged in educational activities, accompanied child to extracurricular activities and took care of the child until the parents returned home.

I am interested in participating in this program to learn about other cultures and make mine known, meet other people. I like children and I feel more than qualified to work with them, taking care of them, teaching them about my country and culture. Teaching them values and learning hundreds of things, living the experience with them would be an honor, they would learn as much from me as I do from them. She learned vocabulary diligently and effectively with my guidance. Benjamin, aged 14, was another student I supported weekly from September 2023 to November 2024. Unlike Mayla and Lia, he struggled with learning vocabulary. Knowing his interest in music, I incorporated musical accompaniment into our sessions to make learning more enjoyable and practical. As a result, he improved by two grade levels. From July 7 to July 11, 2024, I provided full-day holiday care for children aged 7 to 10. My responsibilities included household activities, childcare, shopping, and basic first aid. Between November 2022 and April 2025, I helped students aged 11 to 13 at school once a week. My tasks included tutoring, explaining assignments, and providing general care. Finally, from June 2 to June 6, 2025, I completed a one-week internship at a primary school with students aged 6 to 10. I was responsible for organizing students' workbooks, reading with them, and assisting in classroom activities.

Traveling abroad has always been a dream of mine. When I discovered the Au Pair program, it seemed perfect because it combined two things I love: spending time with children and traveling. It's also a great opportunity to improve my English, and what could be better than experiencing American culture from within an American family. I first heard about the au pair program in 2018, through an youtuber I really liked. I thought about become an au pair at the end of 2019 and went to the travel agency to know more information about it. I decided it would be great for me to go at the end of 2020, after my first semester of college but unfortunately I wasn't able to due to the pandemic. Now I remembered about that idea and thought it was the perfect moment for me to go. I've always loved new cultures, and travelling. Living abroad has been in my plans since I'm young and all my cousins had at some point lived in a foreign country except for me. I check all the boxes to be a great au pair, including really loving kids. I am sure this is going to be a great opportunity for me to grow and learn a lot with my host family and the new culture.
