Hungarian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. The family is the center of the social structure in Hungary. Generations of extended family often live together and grandparents play an important role in helping raise the grandchildren. The family provides both emotional and financial support to its members.
After completing high school, Hungarians will either pursue post-secondary education or travel abroad, although some of them will start working. Hungarian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
To obtain a driver’s license, Hungarians need to pass a written exam, take practice driving lessons and pass a practical test. The fees to get a driver’s license are relatively high and about half of Hungarian households own a car. Hungary also has excellent public transportation. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Hungarian students are required to learn a foreign language. Although it does not necessarily have to be English, it remains, together with German, one of the two preferred foreign languages. More emphasis is put on writing skills and grammar so you may found that your Hungarian au pair is more comfortable reading and writing in English than speaking. From February 2022 to present, I work in a preschool with children from 1-5 years of age. I am responsible for the learning activities, outdoor activities and arts and crafts, prepare meals, help with potty training, change diapers, and help get the children dresses. From March to July 2022, I took care of Josue (2) for 5 hours a day. I prepared food, changed diapers, played, did teaching activities and put him to bed. I would like to be an Au Pair because I want to interact and get to know American culture and I can do what I like the most, which is to accompany the children in their discovery through life, study and travel. I believe are of great importance the way of acting with children in addition to being that person with whom they feel safe to be able to express themselves and at the same time we with them to be that guide and companion so that they discover and develop in total communion with themselves and with the environment that surrounds them. I want to participle in the au pair program for many reasons. To get to know a different culture, to know new people and places. To improve my English. To learn how to be on my own in a different place from where I was born. To grow as a person. Some of my strengths can be, my energy, the knowledge about treating with children, from a caring and dynamic way, meaning I can relate with them, not even in a professional way, but as a human one, which I think, is the most important. I also feel comfortable around them, and would like to think I have nice and polite ways to communicate things and ideas. On the other hand, being able to put boundaries, in any sense, I think it´s a really important quality to have in every aspect of your life, and I work for that on myself all the time, in order to relate with others in a healthy way and vice versa.

I love children and I love to spend time with children. Children are so special and important to me. Witnessing a child grow up is a very special experience for me. It is a so nice experience to teach her or him something and learn from her or him. I also want to improve my English and I am wondering about America and American culture. I hope I can experience the authentic American life and improve my oral English through this program. Besides, I have rich experience in teaching children and enjoy playing with them. It is very meaningful to spread Chinese culture in this process. First of all, my English ability can communicate normally. Secondly, I have driving, swimming and other skills. In August 2023 I started to work at the kindergarten that I'm currently working at and I will work there until the end of June 2024. We draw and read books. Before they went to bed I helped them brush their teeth and put on pajamas. Between April and August 2021, I cared for 2 siblings ages 2 and 5 years. I picked the kids up from kindergarten. When we got home we played a little bit before dinner. Then I cooked them dinner.
