Ukrainian couples usually have one to two children, and it remains a somewhat low average number of children per family in Europe. While families have become smaller it is still at the center of the Ukrainian culture, and it is quite common for grandparents to be actively caring for grandchildren and participating in their education. Parents tend to demand a better behavior, in public and at school, and can be perceived as stricter than the normal across Western culture.
Ukrainian au pairs will usually have child care experience through private babysitting of younger siblings and relatives, kids in their neighborhood, etc.
The procedure to obtain a driver’s license in Ukraine is quite complicated! It requires a series of written and practical tests. Ukrainian driving is known to be somewhat chaotic, which can also mean that your Ukrainian au pair will be used to paying attention to the surroundings and drivers around. It is always recommended that you discuss your driving needs with your au pair.
Foreign language instruction is mandatory in Ukraine, and four languages are taught: English, German, French, and Spanish. Nearly 90% of students choose to study English.

I've looked after Leonardo (12) since July 2023. I help him with homework, drive him to school or his friends and spend time with him. I've looked after Angela (10) since October 2019. I help with homework, take care of her after school and play with her. I've looked after Matteo (12) since October 2022. I help him wit homework, organize his free time and do different activities with him. I babysat Dafne (4) and Noel (6) from June 2022 to May 2023 occasionally. I want to become an au pair exchange program participant because I think it's a great experience to learn a new language and a different culture. I also think it's great to bond with a new family. My responsibilities included preparing necessary items such as clothes and pampers, preparing milk. Between September and October 2023, I worked at a preschool with a group of children ages from 10 months to 5 years old. My responsibilities were to welcome children at the front gate, help teacher to prepare supplies, tell stories, teach English vocabulary, and take care of children while eating. The reason that I am interested in the Aupair program is that I have childcare experience for almost 2 years and I would like to learn and exchange culture between American and Thai. My strengths are trying to understand children and get along with them. I also love to take care of children, teach them to learn new things reasonably, and be flexible to adaptable with children and host family.

I would like to be an au pair because I love helping people and looking after children. I'm an older sister of 2 brothers aged 13 and I'm used to looking after my 5 year old niece. I did work one summer season at a campsite where I looked after the children's club, where they were aged from 3 to 15. I am responsible and independent, and I can easily adapt to everyday life.

I communicate well with children and I love children very much. I can make them feel good by doing nice activities with them. Being patient, calm and organized in child care is one of my strengths. Not being an angry person and always being energetic brings the child closer to me. I enjoy being with them and communicating with them like a friend, not a child. It's fun to teach each other something. Therefore, what this program will teach me is gaining experience in English and in my personal career. I want to become an aupair because I love children and want to work with them. I have a wonderful experience with them and we can teach each other a lot. I think we're right for each other. I also want to meet new people and make new friends, and I can do this during the program. I would like to become close friends with my host family and remain close even after finishing the program. I also want to explore new cultures and travel. And I can explore a new culture while living with a family and traveling. Aupair program can give me all this. I'm a friendly and open person. I prepared his meals, and took him to school activities. From January 2020 to June 2021, I cared for Dulce (8 months old). At the beginning of the day, I would prepare her food, while I helped him with her adaptation with new foods, then I bathed her, then I dressed her to be able to go out to the park to sunshine when we returned, I read her a story for Dulce to take her nap. In our recreational activities, we learned to dance, sing, draw, I was able to teach the animals, colors, sounds, in a set of activities that help this motor skill.

I consider myself a good Au Pair because I love children, I like to share with them. I really like the idea of being like a "big sister" to them and being part of the family. I am interested in sharing my time with children, reinforcing my abilities and skills, expanding my expectations as a childcare provider. I have loved children since I was young. I would like to be a part of their lives that is related to their good development. The reason I decided to be an au pair was the pleasure of embarking on an adventure in another country in a family environment, which I value very much. I consider myself qualified because I like this job because I have the experience and skills to take care of children.
