Child Care Experience
From January to December 2020, I volunteered in day care with children from 3-6 years of age. I prepared the rooms for breakfast, cleaned up and played with the children. In October 2020, I took care of a group of children from 3-6 years of age. I prepared food and played with the children. From January 2015 to November 2019, I occasionally took care of Swantje (7). I helped with homework and played with the child.

I did an internship at an elementary school in November 2021 and in June 2022 taking care of children ages 6 to 11 years old. I assisted them with school work, supervised recess, played with the children, did conflict resolution if needed, and helped the children maintain good hygiene. I've looked after my cousin (2) since September 2023. I play with the child and prepare meals. I've assisted with a children's school choir since January 2023. I help with their appearance, keep them calm, listen and give tips with singing and playing their instruments, help with reading notes, and encourage them.

I want to become an Au Pair because I‘ve always been fascinated by the USA. From the movies, the history and holidays everything fascinates me. Which is why it’s been my dream from a very young age to experience the American life. But also working with children is a dream for me. I love working with kids and teenagers, which is why I want to become a teacher later and being an Au Pair is both dreams combined. I think I‘m qualified to participate in the program because being with people makes me complete. My strengths are that I never get bored and I can laugh at myself, but also that I can be very compassionate.

From 08/2017 to 12/2022 I cared for Domenik (11) for 5-7 times a month. I was responsible for cooking, playing games, helping with homework, bathing him, put him to bed etc. From 01/2016 to 01/2022 I cared for Luena (1) twice a month. I would make the baby formula, entertain her, play games, change diapers and put her to sleep. From 09/2017 to 12/2020 I cared for Noah (1) and Louis (3) twice a month. I was responsible for changing diapers, meal preparation, baths, housekeeping etc. From 10/2023 to 01/2025 I cared for Leon (6) and Dhurata (8) on occasion. I was responsible for light housekeeping, helping with homework, cooking, and studying light topics.

When I was younger, seeing my older cousin go to Spain and become an au pair was the coolest thing ever. Her still being in touch with her host family till this day, was my kind of sign to also dare it. I've seen her being undeniebly happy while she was an au pair and I think, if I found a loving and fun family in which I fit in with, I could definitely be that too. I'm an open-minded, adventurous and kind person. I love kids with my whole heart and most of the time, they love me too ;) The ability to easily put myself in the shoes of the children and understand exactly how they feel and what they need is what makes me a good au pair. I've co-raised every sibling of mine, so even on days where the kids may have a hard time expressing themselves and their needs, I would be there to understand without any big communication.

I was responsible for helping with homework, tidying up the children's room together, going to playgrounds, and getting them to bed. From 02/2019 to 12/2024 I cared for a group of children ages 1 to 13 4-5 times a week. I helped with homework, studied together for school, made supper and put to bed, talked and played a lot. From 09/2021 to 06/2024 I cared for a group of children ages 12-18 for 5 hours a week. I was volunteer support for confirmation candidates: thematic leadership of a small group, preparation and implementation of the thematic units, participation in training courses in the field of pedagogy and theology.

I would be happy to participate in the Au Pair exchange program in the USA because I really love to take care for children and want to become part of a family in the U.S. To get to know the american way of life is one of my oldest dreams. Discovering unknown places, new cultures and making friends on another part of the world is what I appriciate most . Improving my English is one of the nice side effects. I guess this special experience will let me grow in many aspects. Since I have a lot of experience in child care in different constellations I am mostly qualified. One of my biggest strenghts are my sense of responsibilty and my organizational skills. Since I have a very positive attitude it´s easy for my to deal with difficult situations. I would like to become an au pair exchange program participant in the USA because I want to get to know a new culture, improve my language skills, take a break from everyday life and because I have a passion for working with children. I would love to become an au pair, because I really enjoy taking care of children. I am considering becoming a primary school teacher or educator. I think it's important at my age to experience as much as possible and also learn to become independent. From July to August 2023, I took care of several children from 6 to 12 years of age for a holiday program. I prepared food, played, organized group meetings and did sports with the children. From the 17th to the 28th of April 2023, I took care of several children from 2 to 6 years of age. I played with the children, talked with and taught the children.

First of all, I love travelling. When I was younger, my family and I visited a lot of German cities. We also hiked in Austria, went camping in France or sightseeing in Belgium and visited my grand-parents in Florida or explored New York. Apart from travelling, I love working with children. In the last years, I was teamleader in various holiday programs where we organized, par example treasure hunts, water games or craft sessions. Last year, I did an internship at an so-called 'early intervention centre', where we help children with specific needs. And therefore a year as an au pair seemed perfect for me.
