All of our au pairs we place in the U.S. speak English, but for many, it is not their native language. Immersion in an English-speaking culture improves their language skills, although EurAupair screens au pairs to be sure their level of English is appropriate and will allow them to be functional on their very first day in the U.S. Our objective evaluation of the au pair’s English is provided to you as part of their application package, and you get a chance to interview your au pair prior to placing with her in order to ensure her English level matches your expectations.

I took care of Amina (8 years old) and Amine (9 years old) from September 2025 to December 2025. My responsibilities included watching the children and playing games with them. I took care of Channa (4 years old) and Tyron (6 years old) from September 2025 to January 2026. My responsibilities included picking them up from school, helping them with homework, preparing meals, and doing activities with them. I took care of Elizia (3 years old) from February 2025 to July 2025 during school breaks. My responsibilities included picking the child up from the nanny’s house, doing activities together, giving snacks, and bathing the child for a total of 51 hours. I took care of Johan (11 years old), Taiss (8 years old), Maleek (5 years old), and Adria (2 years old) from September 2024 to November 2025. My responsibilities included picking them up from school, helping with meals, and assisting with homework for a total of 200 hours. I took care of Tilia (3 to 9 years old) from July 2020 to August 2025 occasionally. My responsibilities included helping with meals, picking the child up from school, and doing activities.

I wish to participate in the program because it represents a unique opportunity for me to discover a new culture, practice my English, and have an enriching experience living with an American family. When I was 12, I had the opportunity to spend six months alone in Germany with a host family, discovering a new culture. This experience taught me a lot about myself, helped me grow, and allowed me to meet new people and experience a different way of life. I promised myself that if I ever had the chance to go abroad again, I would take it. So, I waited until I finished my schooling before pursuing the au pair experience. I want to become an au pair because it is a wonderful opportunity to travel, discover a new culture, and connect with people in a truly unique way. Being part of a family abroad feels like the best way to really understand the culture. It also gives me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about the world and about myself.
